Classic illustrated animation waving at the machines

When working with Glen Keane, a classic animation artist who had worked on ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Beauty and the Beast and ‘Alladin’, director John Kahrs found himself with a new appreciation for traditional animation and drawing techniques.

But with a difference.

Not at the cost of efficiency.

Disney developed a software in-house to help blend the efficiency of CGI animation with the charm and personality of hand-drawn animation techniques.

The software is called Meander, a vector-based drawing program that allows for manipulation of the line after the fact.
