Josh Leong is a designer at Microsoft working on apps like Excel. He decided to throw his experience at developing a spreadsheet app for the iPad/iPhone and gave it a fitting name: Grid. You can get it here for free. Right now the touch interface has a greater affect on the success of an app than its underlying functionality. Even though Grid currently won’t let you crunch numbers it is a welcome development and provides a best practice example of how to design a simple user experience.
