The store was back open until this Monday (Feb 12). The video was taken when the store opened briefly during New York Fashion week. Whoever bought the seemingly counterfeit apparel was in for a surprise. The seemingly bogus goods were one-of-a-kind, specially crafted by Diesel design team, and very likely to become collector’s items.
In a world that is reportedly unsettled by counterfeit and fake news, it’s a brilliant little stunt from Publicis New York and Publcis Italy, the perfect brand imprinting and continuation of last years “go with the flaw” campaign by Publcis Italy. And so piece by piece the “big idea” of marketing gets turned into a long idea.
