old school in the new world

For the most part of my good life in advertising, I held my art school in high esteem, I like to thank my teachers, Frau Schulenburg and Herr Teger for a solid education in design.

Since 1915 the Blocherer school is the training centre for creatives in the areas communication design and interior decoration in Munich. With the relaunch of their website the art school accepts the new world in a post digital age and redefines itself accordingly from the ground up.

  • Today, Wednesday, Dec 16 at 1:30pm, the aptitude test for the summer semester of 2016 is taking place.
  • Talks, showroom visits and a staff of 24 lecturers make for practical training and individual mentoring.
  • Graduates can get their bachelor or master degree in London.

You will be judged (or you will be ignored)

Today’s educated designers find themselves in midst the disputes of social media. Our reputation is at stake. More often than not, the more entertaining, insightful and creative ideas come from these channels.

But today’s generation of art school students can hold their ground long term as no previous generation was enabled to!

Instead of an out-of-date portfolio, you maintain a chronicle of your work but with a difference. Its not just an online portfolio, it is also a journal of your professional lives. Something of relevance to your peers and trade. Something your peers and trade can learn from.

It will take 1 or 2 hours of supreme concentration out of your day, to jot down a story of relevance to your peers and your trade, and it won’t cost you more than the monthly recurring expense of $10.

Unschooling1 trend

A blog is the tool for recent unschooling tendencies. Unschooling was coined in the 1970s and used by educator John Holt, widely regarded as the “father” of unschooling.. It advocates learner-chosen activities as a primary means for learning.

Art scholars choose a topic they want themselves to be consumed by. Pick a fitting theme for a blog, which is often available free of charge or at little cost. Done during completion of semesters, they are writig their own chronicle, By maintaining your blog you continuously create new meaning for your brand. At age 45 when in most countries the going gets tough, you have established something to look back to, something that helps you change even at old age.

Each art school scholar is a brand of their own.

With a well maintained design diary (your blog), chances are some or all of these things may happen in real time:
